Nuernberg Christmas Market
December – the quiet period continues for German tourism until Christmas. But foreign visitors know better and arrive for the Christmas markets. The bigger ones are in usually in full swing from the end of November/beginning of December.
The only closing for Christmas is on Christmas Eve, when shops shut during the afternoon and restaurants close by mid evening at the latest, to allow their staff to celebrate Christmas with their families.
From 25th December it is business as usual, with all restaurants open and the ski lifts and ski schools all operating - the snow can be a bit limited at Christmas but all of our guests have managed to ski if they want to. Only the shops stay closed until 27th.
There is a wide range of events on around Christmas and New Year, in the village and nearby. This is a selection:
- Date not yet known: Christmas Concert in Bayerisch Eisenstein Church
- 19th December: Bayerisch Eisenstein's International Christmas Market
- 24th December: early evening Christmas dinner for our guests at a village restaurant
- 25th or 26th December: Christmas party for our guests at the Forsthaus with Gluehwein and live local music.
- 25th December - 5th January: Wintermarket at the Baumwipfelpafd (treetop walkway) at Neuschoenau
- 28th December: Concert on the village square in Bayerisch Eisenstein
- 28th December-January 4th: New Year's Market at Zwiesel Kristallglas in Zwiesel - art and crafts
- 29th December: Winter Solstice celebrations in Rinchnach - witches and demons perform manic dances (also in Zwiesel and at Joska Kristall in Bodenmais) Haxnbrecher Apre'ski Ball in Bayerisch Eisenstein
- 30th December: Horse drawn sleigh races in Rinchnach
- 31st December: midnight - fireworks all over the village and on the terrace at Forsthaus
- 1st January: New Year's Day Concert - the village band plays Bavarian and Czech waltzes, polkas and marches
